Ambassadors for Christ

The Apostle,Paul reminds us that we are all “ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). The ability to briefly share why we are Christians, and how a personal relationship with Jesus has enriched our lives, is a gift to those in need of God’s love and forgiveness. The purpose of this site is to provide people with a simple, step-by-step process for writing and sharing concise personal faith stories.

WILL YOU BE READY?

We Christians call our faith storiesĀ  testimonies, conversion stories, or statements of faith. Why I Love Jesus is just another name. What matters is how comfortable we feel about sharing our stories with others. In our daily lives we may bump into an acquaintance in a parking lot, or a neighbor in the grocery store, or a colleague at work. We ask the simple question, “How’s it going?” and get an unexpected reply such as, “I just found out my mom has terminal cancer,” or “The bank sent us a foreclosure letter,” or “I caught my child is doing drugs.” How many times have we mumbled something, and then 10 minutes later thought of what we should have said? We may offer to pray for that person. But what if the response we get sounds like, “Don’t talk to me about God! How could a loving God let such bad things happen to me?” Before we launch into a three-point sermon on the wages of sin in a broken world, consider that the person God has put before us is discouraged and in pain, or doesn’t even believe that God loves them. Could we sum up our relationship with God in one sentence such as, “I don’t know what you’re going through, but when my husband was dying from cancer, I found that talking to God about it gave me a feeling of peace and comfort.” Sometimes our greatest gift as Christians is the willingness to listen to others; to offer a helping hand, or a word of encouragement. When the time is right, others will open the door for us to share our faith stories. Whatever name we call our personal faith stories, when the time comes, will we be ready to share ours?
